SCAN (funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute) has two main purposes: to examine developing patterns of physical activity and eating habits to see how family, friends, and school influence these habits Other fascinating facts about SCAN: 351 Mexican-American and Anglo-American 4 year olds and their families began the project Today, almost 200 of the families still participate Over 40 articles have resulted from the hard work of the SCAN family.
