RESIDENT EDUCATION

CULTURAL IMMERSION DAYS
Our goal is to have each resident achieve the highest level of cultural competence possible. In order to help achieve this goal four "immersion days" occur each academic year. Immersion days take place within specific geographic locations of the community. They are designed to reach the residents, as a group, through discussion and sharing with community leaders and participation in cultural activities.

The half day experience occurs on a quarterly basis and consists of trips to communities throughout San Diego and Tijuana.

While participating in immersion day activities the resident learns first hand about cultural norms and practices as they relate to health care services delivery.
